Welcome to 1stdibs.com, the world’s 1st market place where you can search for, and on most items, negotiate the purchase of decorative arts on-line.

SEARCH FOR ITEMS

Each week we source hundreds of new items from decorative arts markets around the world which can be searched city-by-city or by dealer.

“new and featured listings” allows you to view the current week’s latest finds.

“categories” search allows you to define a combination of particular details including the type of items, period and/or a keyword.

“price reductions” are posted as they come in and are an excellent resource for great deals.

While searching, you can always click “more details” on any item to review a more detailed description as well as more pictures.

FACILITATED AND NON-FACILITATED PURCHASES

City Search is designed to allow dealers around the world to offer their own items for sale to 1stdibs customers.

All of the pieces offered by our City Search dealers can be purchased directly from them. Each item set up for City Search is tagged with the dealer’s name. By clicking on it you will find the dealer’s contact information, as well as access to all other items available on 1stdibs.com, by that dealer.

If you decide to have 1stdibs.com facilitate a City Search transaction for you, we can on most items, help you negotiate the best price, arrange the payment on your behalf and obtain shipping quotes for you. A 20% buyer’s premium will be added to the final sales price:

MAKING AN OFFER

As many of the pieces offered are purchased by dealers and do sell quickly, when you see something you like, don’t hesitate to make an offer as most items are negotiable. The 1st offer received at the full asking price gets “1stdibs”. If you offer less than the asking price, we will forward your offer to the dealer for reply. Please be aware that a superior offer can come in during your negotiation and get “1stdibs”.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

You can manage the different aspects of your 1stdibs account by using the features available under “account holder”. These include:

Updating your contact information or changing your password by clicking on your name.

Reviewing and paying your balance on-line by clicking on “balance”

Checking on the status of the offers you have submitted by clicking on “offer status”

Reviewing or printing out your purchase records by clicking on “purchase records”

Reviewing all your shipping details. By clicking on “shipping status” you may review the different shipping options available to you. You may also manage your shipping information including delivery address, shipping quotes and your shipping payment. If you are arranging your own shipping, you can locate pick-up information for your purchase that can be e-mailed to your own shipper.

ACCOUNT FEATURES

“store tour” allows you to set up individual tours of City Search dealers defined by geographic location which can then be printed or e-mailed.

“virtual stock” allows you to place items into a virtual stock room without our logo and at your own selected price so that you can later present the information to a client.

“portfolio” is designed to store items in your portfolio so that you may come back to them later. By clicking “make offer” all of the items in your portfolio will be formatted so that they can submit an offer
